Life is full of crossroads.
Choices can look messy and complex.
But when you strip away the noise, most decisions boil down to two paths. Stay quiet, or step up and ask for what you want.
Most people choose silence. They don’t raise their hand. They don’t ask for the raise. They don’t ask for help. They don’t ask for the opportunity.
Why?
Because asking feels hard.
We build up stories in our heads not just about the word “no”… but also why it will be no.
We tell ourselves we don’t deserve it.
We convince ourselves the timing is wrong.
We decide the other person will never agree.
But the truth is, most of those reasons live only in our imagination.
When you step forward with courage and good intentions, doors open more easily than you’d expect.
Sometimes the other person is already thinking the same thing and just needs reassurance.
Other times, your perspective is something they’ve never considered before, and it’s eye opening for them.
And here’s what I’ve experienced in my own life: some of the best things have come from asking.
Opportunities I would have missed. Relationships that would have never started. Doors that would have stayed closed.
Not only for me, but for those around me too.
Asking has a ripple effect. It lifts others. It creates momentum.
It proves that rising tides really do raise all ships.
So if you’re standing on the fence right now, wondering if you should go for it… the answer is yes.
Ask the question. Start the conversation. Knock on the door that looks closed.
You don’t get what you don’t ask for — and your next step could be the one that changes everything.
